How can the clean energy industry build stronger consumer support for America’s energy future?

On October 6, Our Energy, a non-profit dedicated to consumer education, is launching the Big Power, Zero Drama, an industry-led consumer awareness campaign—first of its kind for the clean energy industry. The campaign will feature a well-known Hollywood celebrity to help reach the moveable middle in America, engaging them in a new conversation about the importance of clean energy. The message is simple: America has a growing need for more power from a variety of sources, and wind and solar are essential to a stronger and more resilient future.

Just ahead of the launch, we’ll host an exclusive PowerCast previewing the campaign. We’ll explore the strategy behind Big Power, Zero Drama and examine how the campaign positions clean energy as relatable, culturally relevant, and embedded in everyday American life, with content designed to win hearts and minds. This PowerCast will provide an inside look at the industry-led campaign strategy, data, rollout plan, and a preview of the ads and creative assets ahead of the launch. The conversation will also include the longer-term plan to scale this campaign, with industry’s support, in the future.

Developers brought 164 utility-scale solar, storage, and wind projects online in the second quarter, adding 17.1 GW of new capacity and pushing total clean power capacity to nearly 388 GW, enough energy to power 83 million American households.

The 2026 Q2 Clean Power Market Report showcases steady development in the solar and storage sectors, while the pipeline for wind projects has slowed due to ongoing federal pushbacks and delays.

The quarter marked the strongest second quarter and first half of a year on record for clean energy deployments, demonstrating that companies and utilities continue to recognize the value of clean energy as a fast, affordable power source, even in an unstable policy environment.

Report Highlights:

  • New Mexico led the nation in new clean power capacity additions, adding 3.6 GW to the grid from Pattern Energy’s SunZia project and ending Texas’ two-and-a-half-year streak as the top state.
  • Battery storage surpassed 50 GW of installed capacity nationwide and now stands at nearly 53 GW.
  • The clean power pipeline reached a record 205 GW, up 20 GW (11%) year-over-year.
  • Clean power procurement totaled 14.5 GW, up 23% year over year, with power purchase agreement announcements reaching an all-time first-half record.
  • Despite the sector’s strong performance, federal permitting and review delays continue to threaten future development, particularly for land-based wind projects, contributing to a 4% decline in the land-based wind pipeline.

As U.S. energy demand continues to grow, we need more energy, and we need it fast. Luckily, clean power projects are ready to meet this growing need, on the timescales that new technologies need. ACP Research team’s newest Speed to Market analysis shows how clean power projects are faster to both build and connect to the grid, enabling future load growth without relying on costlier thermal units or putting upward pressure on system-wide prices.

The difference is clear:

  • Faster to build: Clean power projects spent an average of less than a year in development last year, while gas turbines spent two to three years in advanced development and construction.
  • Faster to connect: Due to its robust project pipeline, clean power projects take six monthsÌýto two years to connect to the grid, whereas unplanned gas generators can take an average of five to seven years.

Clean energy is keeping our country’s grid stronger and less reliant on slower, costlier sources of energy. To quickly and affordably meet future energy needs, we need to leverage the speed and low cost of clean energy projects.

July 2026: Clean Power Delivers During Heatwaves /resources/clean-power-heatwaves-july-2026/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=clean-power-heatwaves-july-2026 Wed, 22 Jul 2026 09:00:35 +0000 /?post_type=resource&p=75678 Clean energy saved the grid more than $170 million during the July 2026 heatwave.

The post July 2026: Clean Power Delivers During Heatwaves appeared first on ACP.

]]>
America celebrated its 250th birthday amid one of the year’s most significant heatwaves. As extreme temperatures drove electricity demand to seasonal highs, wholesale power prices surged, and regional power systems relied heavily on expensive gas and coal peaking plants to maintain reliability. The grid was pushed to its limits in some areas, and nearly 400,000 households across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast experienced power outages during some of the hottest hours of the year.

Across the areas most affected by the heatwave, wind and solar generation increased during the highest-demand hours compared to the days before and after the event, providing electricity when it was needed most. Markets with higher levels of clean energy experienced substantially lower wholesale electricity prices, while regions with relatively little clean generation experienced the highest prices despite having tens of gigawatts of clean energy waiting to connect to the grid.

To quantify the value of additional clean energy, ACP modeled a scenario in which advanced utility-scale solar, wind, offshore wind, and battery storage projects — totaling 74 GW — currently awaiting interconnection in MISO, PJM, NYISO, and ISO New England had already been operating.

The results were clear:

  • More than $170 million in wholesale electricity cost savings during the July heatwave, thanks to clean power.
  • Lower reliance on expensive gas, coal, and oil peaking generation.
  • Improved system reliability, including avoiding modeled reliability shortfalls during the highest-demand hours.
  • Lower wholesale electricity prices across every modeled region.

Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent, and electricity demand continues to rise. This analysis demonstrates that expanding clean power is not simply an emissions strategy — it is a reliability and affordability strategy. Bringing shovel-ready clean energy projects online faster would reduce consumer costs, strengthen grid reliability, and lessen dependence on the most expensive generating resources when Americans need electricity the most.

Investment Tax Credit Transfer Agreement Form /resources/investment-tax-credit-transfer-agreement-form/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=investment-tax-credit-transfer-agreement-form Sun, 12 Jul 2026 13:45:14 +0000 /?post_type=resource&p=70366 ACP and its industry partners have introduced a new standardized Tax Credit Transfer Agreement form for Investment Tax Credits.

The post Investment Tax Credit Transfer Agreement Form appeared first on ACP.

]]>
As the clean energy industry accelerates project deployment nationwide, the ability to transfer federal tax credits has become one of the most consequential financial tools for shaping project finance. With billions of dollars in transferable credits circulating across technologies — from solar and wind to manufacturing, storage, and nuclear — standardizing these credit transfer transactions can help attract new investors. Ìý

ACP partnered with leading developers, legal experts, and market innovators to explore the state of play and introduce a new standardized ITC transfer agreement form.Ìý

The new Tax Credit Transfer Agreement (TCTA) form is designed to standardize the legal documentation for these transactions, aiming to lower barriers to entry, reduce transaction costs, and shorten deal timelines, especially for first-time buyers and smaller sellers.

Key details about the TCTA form and the transferability market:

  • The market for buying and selling clean-energy tax credits is growing fast: Tax credit transfers have scaled dramatically — from under $10 billion in 2023 to an estimated $40 billion in 2025 across various technologies like solar, wind, manufacturing, storage, and nuclear.
  • ACP and industry partners have introduced the new Tax Credit Transfer Agreement (TCTA) to make deals more accessible to a broader range of market participants:Ìý Tax credit buyers and sellers will have a common starting place to transact transfer deals. ACP’s goal in creating the form with its industry partners is to make the form broadly available and widely used similar to the ubiquitous ISDA framework for derivative transactions.
  • This is just the first step — more standardized tools are coming:ÌýExperts expect similar templates for other credits like 45Y production tax credits and 45X manufacturing incentives further expanding the pool of potential tax equity investors. As these tools roll out, buying and selling credits should become easier, helping clean energy scale more quickly.ÌýÌý

A consistent, tested, and accepted template provides the confidence and guidance these new participants need to transact.
